Miss Hawai'i Volunteer is a statewide, service-oriented scholarship program seeking to empower intelligent, talented, health-conscious young women through education and opportunities for public service and networking. We are part of the Miss Volunteer America scholarship program.

Miss Hawai'i Volunteer contestants will compete in the following phases of competition: private interview, fitness and wellness, evening gown, talent, and on-stage question.

MISS HAWAII VOLUNTEER
Lesina Matatumua-Vermeulen
Scholarship. Education. Responsibility. Volunteerism. Empowerment.
Lesina Matatumua-Vermeulen is a 20-year-old pre-nursing student at KapiÊ»olani Community College where she has been on the Dean’s List for the past two years. Her goal is to obtain a PhD in nursing and to become a pediatric nurse. She is a trilingual speaker of English, ‘Olelo Hawaiian and Samoan and is a trained Samoan dancer of Siva Samoa & Nifo Oti, as well as a trained hula and Maori dancer.
She is a graduate of Radford High School where she was named its Women’s Volleyball Most Valuable Player. She serves as a Youth Leader at Kanana Fou Hawai‘i Christian Congregation.
Her SERVE Initiative is “Diabetes in Polynesia” through which she seeks to partner with local schools, youth programs, and community centers across the state to host interactive workshops that teach children and families how to make small, sustainable changes in their diets and daily routines to combat the diabetes epidemic in Polynesia.

Aria Chock

Aria Chock is 14-year-old eighth grader at Stevenson Middle School where she serves as a student council representative and an Aloha Ambassador and is ranked as the top student in her class and in the school.
Her professional goal is to become an anesthesiologist by attending the University of California, Los Angeles for undergraduate studies and the Stanford University School of Medicine.
She is actively involved with musical theatre with the Pacific Academy of Performing Arts, as well as hula with the Hui O Kamaleinani Hula Studio and chinese lion dance with the Chinese Lion Dance Association.
Aria’s SERVE Initiative is “More Than a Stage: Musical Theater” through which she seeks to partner with schools and theaters to bring musical theater workshops to youth across the islands to help build confidence, self-expression, and belonging. Her goal is to inspire others to work hard and use their talents to make a difference.
